When the Day Doesn’t Go to Plan (And Why That’s Okay)
If you looked at my schedule at 8:00 AM today, you would have seen a beautifully organized timeline. By 1:00 PM… let’s just say reality had other ideas.
Tasks ran long, unexpected fires popped up, and my quiet focus time completely vanished. It’s the kind of day that used to make me try to force everything back into place through sheer willpower.
But running a business has taught me a better lesson: when things don’t go according to your plan, they are usually going according to a better one.
It’s easy to feel like a delay is a failure of productivity. But there is so much peace in stepping back and trusting that everything is timed perfectly in God’s view.
- The detour might be protecting your energy.
- The delay might be opening space for something you didn’t know you needed.
- The task that took longer might have just needed extra care today.
Productivity isn’t about rigid control… it’s about flexibility and trust. When we stop white-knuckling our calendars, we make room for grace. Missing a self-imposed deadline isn’t falling behind… it’s just an invitation to pivot.
If your to-do list looks untouched today, take a breath. Everything is unfolding right when and how it’s meant to.
Trust the timing, show yourself some grace, and start fresh tomorrow.
